This is a photo of the C-17 Globemaster III taking off from Edwards AFB. Red smoke bombs were deployed on both sides of the runway during the takeoff. The left wingtip vortex is visible, and its direction of rotation(clockwise) can be discerned. It is an official USAF photo.
