Lifting a Spoon
Materials:

  • A faucet with running water
  • A spoon
  • Procedure: Gently hold the end of a spoon so that it can freely rotate. Then bring the spoon slowly toward water exiting a faucet. As soon as the water stream touches the spoon, you should feel the soon getting pulled into the flow.

Explanation: The shape of the spoon causes the flow to curve. As soon as the flow curves (and the streamlines) the pressure will drop (Euler's n equation) causing a pressure difference across the spoon dragging the spoon into the flow.
