The Journal on Composite Mechanics and Design is a translation of the Russian journal Mekhanika Kompositsionnykh Materialov i Konstruktsii, published under the auspices of the Institute of Applied Mechanics Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian National Academy of Knowledge. The Journal on Composite Mechanics and Design is published quarterly since January 1995. The journal devoted to the mechanics of modern composite materials and their applications in shells and designs. Articles from non-Russian sources are also included.

The Journal publishes articles on the cutting edge of theoretical and applied research in the following areas:

• Mechanics of structured, nonuniform, and heterogeneous media with complex rheological properties and phase changes
