INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL FOR NUMERICAL METHODS IN ENGINEERING

http://www.interscience.wiley.com/jpages/0029-5981/

The International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering is a periodical which publishes refereed contributions describing significant developments in numerical methods and their application to the solution of practical engineering problems. It is a companion journal to the International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids and the International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, and to Communications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, which publishes short manuscripts.

Numerical methods today enjoy a central role in every branch of engineering, due to the explosive development of computational devices of all types. The International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering was founded, over three decades ago, with the objective of providing a platform for the publication of papers in this critical area.

Numerical procedures (representing, for example, new approaches to the solution of algebraic equations) are of interest to the readership of the Journal when they have a defined role in engineering applications. The same can be said of numerical methods for the modelling and interpretation of engineering analyses, such as the steps customarily associated with computer aided design and computer graphics.

Numerical examples, which help to illustrate the methodology of techniques proposed in a submitted manuscript and verify their validity, are recommended, as are descriptions of practical applications. Publication of a computer program is undertaken if it shows a considerable advance, is coded in a widely-used programming language, is of reasonable length, and is presented clearly.
