Turkey Fry
Turkey Fry is a new craze that may not be good for you but is certainly delicious. Use energy principles to compare the cooking time of a 20-lb turkey in a conventional oven and in a deep frying container where the entire unstuffed turkey is submersed. The oven is kept at a constant temperature of 180°C, while the frying pan contains peanut oil maintained at a temperature of 105°C. For protection against foodborne illness, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advises a minimum internal temperature for turkey of 82°C.
